“A real doctor and dietitian who care, but waitlists and insurance hoops slow you down.”
One of the few that pairs you with both an obesity-medicine physician and a registered dietitian, billed through insurance. Genuinely strong nutrition guidance — but it's general weight-loss dietetics, not a dose-tuned protein plan plus the resistance protocol that specifically protects lean muscle.
What members say
They love — You get an actual obesity-medicine doctor and a registered dietitian — members feel genuinely cared for.
Watch out — Waitlists and insurance/eligibility hoops mean it can take a couple of weeks to truly start.

“Best at getting brand meds covered, but slow to start with clunky billing.”
The strongest at insurance navigation, often landing covered brand prescriptions. Nutrition leans on the classic WeightWatchers points framework — broad lifestyle coaching rather than protein targets tuned to a suppressed appetite or a muscle-protection protocol.
What members say
They love — Best in class at actually getting insurance to approve brand-name meds.
Watch out — Slow to get started, the app can glitch, and billing questions take a while to resolve.

“Warm, responsive coaches, but pricing and med supply can shift without warning.”
Found blends medication with behavioral coaching and a community feel. Coaches are generalists, not registered dietitians — great for accountability, less so for a precise weekly meal plan or the resistance protocol that keeps muscle on during rapid loss.
What members say
They love — Coaches are warm and responsive, and the community keeps people accountable.
Watch out — Pricing and medication availability have changed abruptly, and some refund requests dragged.

“Thorough and structured, but a pricey year-long lock-in that's hard to cancel.”
A premium, year-long commitment with video coaching and lifestyle curriculum, usually billed annually. High-touch and structured — but it's a fixed term, leans on general coaching, and stops short of dose-specific protein targets or a muscle-protection protocol.
What members say
They love — The curriculum and video coaching are thorough — people who finish the year feel supported.
Watch out — It's a pricey annual lock-in, and cancelling or getting a refund mid-term is a common, frustrating complaint.

“Flexible meds with dietitian access, but compounded supply can be inconsistent.”
Mochi offers both brand and compounded options plus group dietitian sessions — more nutrition than most telehealth players. Still, the guidance is general and group-based, without a personalized weekly plan or the strength work that preserves muscle.
What members say
They love — Flexible brand-or-compounded options plus dietitian sessions — more nutrition than most telehealth.
Watch out — Compounded supply can be inconsistent and message replies sometimes lag during busy stretches.

“Effortless app and fast shipping, but real human support is hard to reach.”
Ro pairs a clinician visit with a polished tracking app and pharmacy fulfillment. Strong on logistics and brand-name access; nutrition is light — habit nudges and articles, not a dietitian building your week or protecting your muscle.
What members say
They love — Reorders and refills are effortless, shipping is fast, and the app feels genuinely modern.
Watch out — Support is mostly bots — getting a human is slow, and a few report being charged before they confirmed.

“Genuinely habit-changing, but auto-renew billing is the top complaint.”
Noom's strength is its psychology-based behavior app and food logging. It teaches you about calorie density; it won't hand you a high-protein weekly plan or track lean mass — the things that decide whether the weight you lose is fat or muscle.
What members say
They love — The psychology lessons genuinely shift habits, and the daily app is easy to stick with.
Watch out — Auto-renew billing and a maze-like cancellation flow are the #1 complaint — set a reminder before renewals.

“Cheap, fast and discreet, but compounded sourcing varies and refills auto-charge.”
Aggressive pricing and a frictionless signup make Hims the easy on-ramp, usually with compounded or oral options rather than brand. Nutrition is essentially content — there's no one calculating your protein or watching for the nutrient gaps a smaller appetite opens up.
What members say
They love — Cheap, fast, discreet — you can be approved and shipped in days with zero insurance hassle.
Watch out — It's compounded (sourcing varies), and auto-refill charges have surprised people who forgot to pause.

“Lab work gives a medical feel, but surprise charges and tough cancellation frustrate.”
LifeMD wraps the prescription in lab testing and provider check-ins for a more medical feel. Nutrition is app-based tracking and tips, not a dietitian-built plan, and there's no dedicated muscle-protection piece.
What members say
They love — Lab work and provider check-ins give it a more thorough, medical feel than most.

“Real doctors you can actually talk to, but membership plus visit fees add up.”
PlushCare is full primary-care telehealth that can prescribe GLP-1s and bill insurance for visits. You get a real physician — but zero structured nutrition or muscle support; it's a doctor's office, not a weight-care program.
What members say
They love — Real, credentialed doctors you can talk to, and visits can run through insurance.
Watch out — Membership plus per-visit costs add up, and several report surprise charges and clunky cancellation.

“Affordable compounded with quick approval, but light on coaching and nutrition.”
Medvi keeps compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide affordable with fast clinician approval and an included medication price. Like other compounded-first telehealth, it's the prescription with minimal extras — no structured meal plan, no muscle-protection work.
What members say
They love — Quick approvals, responsive clinicians, and a price that undercuts most brand programs.

“Among the cheapest and easy to pause, but support is thin if problems come up.”
Eden keeps compounded medication cheap and the signup fast, with flexible month-to-month access. Like most compounded-first players, it delivers the prescription and little else — no nutrition plan, no coaching, no muscle protection.
What members say

How to choose · a note from our medical reviewer
Yoana Kanev, MD · Board Certified in Obesity Medicine
There's no single “best” program — the right one depends on your budget, whether your insurance covers a GLP-1, how much hands-on support you want, and how quickly you want to start. I tell patients to weigh those four things first, then read the fine print on billing and cancellation before anything else. That's where most of the frustration in these reviews comes from.
On brand-name vs. compounded: brand-name medications (Wegovy, Zepbound) are FDA-approved with consistent, predictable dosing — but they cost more and access can hinge on insurance and supply. Compounded versions are often more affordable and easier to get, though they aren't FDA-approved for weight loss and quality depends heavily on the pharmacy. If you're considering compounded, look for a provider that's transparent about its pharmacy and ingredients. Neither is automatically right or wrong — it's a personal decision to make with your prescriber.
Whichever you choose, the medication is only half of it. None of these programs do much for the nutrition and muscle side — and that's exactly the gap. Activious is built to pair with nearly any of them: we don't prescribe, so you keep your provider and add the protein targets, meal support, and muscle protection that actually protect your results.
Educational information only — not medical advice or an endorsement of any provider. Always confirm details and decisions with your own prescriber.
The one thing they all miss
The medication is the easy part. Keeping your muscle isn't.
Notice the nutrition column — every prescriber stops at logging or generic coaching. Activious doesn't prescribe; we're the layer that works with whichever you choose: weekly meal plans, protein targets tuned to your dose, a muscle-protection protocol, and monthly live dietitian sessions — all in one membership that works alongside your prescription.
